Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy — harnessing your own growth factors for natural hair restoration, skin rejuvenation and accelerated healing.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is produced by taking a small sample of your own blood and centrifuging it to concentrate the platelets — which contain growth factors that stimulate tissue repair, collagen production and cell regeneration. PRP is used at PeriFORMÉ for hair loss treatment, skin texture improvement and as an adjunct to surgical procedures to enhance healing.
A small amount (15–30 ml) of blood drawn from the arm — similar to a routine blood test.
Blood centrifuged for 10 minutes to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma fraction.
PRP activated and prepared for injection. Numbing cream pre-applied to treatment area.
PRP injected into the scalp or skin via fine needles, or applied with a micro-needling device for facial skin treatment.
Best results seen after 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by quarterly maintenance sessions.
For hair loss, a course of 3–6 sessions over 4–6 months is recommended. Maintenance once every 3–4 months sustains results. Individual response varies.
Topical numbing cream is applied before injections. Scalp injections cause mild discomfort — most patients tolerate them very well. Facial PRP with micro-needling is comfortable with numbing cream.
Hair: visible reduction in shedding at 2–3 months, new growth at 4–6 months. Skin: improved glow and texture at 4–6 weeks, cumulative with each session.
Since PRP uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergy or rejection. Mild swelling and redness at the injection sites for 24–48 hours is normal and expected.
PRP does not permanently stop genetic hair loss — it stimulates existing follicles and reduces shedding during active treatment. Maintenance sessions are required to sustain results. For permanent restoration, FUE hair transplant is the definitive solution.
Yes — PRP applied at the time of FUE surgery and in the post-operative sessions is shown to improve graft survival rates and accelerate new hair growth. Dr. Thusay offers PRP as part of the hair transplant package.
No. PRP uses concentrated platelets and growth factors from your blood. Stem cell therapies are a separate category. PRP is a well-established, evidence-based treatment. Many so-called "stem cell hair treatments" in the market are not standardised — exercise caution.
Patients with blood disorders, platelet dysfunction, active infections, on blood thinners, or with very advanced alopecia areata may not be suitable. Dr. Thusay assesses suitability at the consultation.
