Follicular Unit Extraction — the gold standard in hair restoration. Natural hairline design and dense graft placement by fellowship-trained Dr. Pranav Thusay.
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is the most advanced, minimally invasive hair transplant technique available. Individual hair follicle units are extracted from the donor area (back of the scalp) using a precision micropunch and meticulously implanted into the recipient zones — recreating a natural hairline with no linear scar.
Dr. Thusay's fellowship in hair transplant surgery — combined with his plastic surgery background — gives him a unique advantage in hairline design. As a reconstructive surgeon, he understands facial proportions, tissue planes and the artistry required to create a result that looks completely natural.
Yes. The transplanted follicles are taken from the donor area (back of the scalp) which is genetically resistant to DHT — the hormone responsible for hair loss. These follicles retain their DHT-resistance after transplantation, making the result permanent.
The scalp is fully anaesthetised before any extraction or implantation begins. Most patients feel only mild pressure and vibration during the procedure. Post-operatively, mild soreness for 3–5 days is managed with oral medication.
Transplanted hairs shed at 2–4 weeks (shock shedding — completely normal). New growth begins at 3–4 months. Significant density is visible at 6–9 months. Full, final result is seen at 12 months.
This depends on the area of hair loss and the desired density. On average: hairline restoration requires 1,500–2,500 grafts; full crown coverage 2,500–4,000 grafts. Dr. Thusay will provide a precise graft count after examining your scalp.
Yes. Female-pattern hair loss, hairline correction and eyebrow restoration are all performed at PeriFORMÉ. The assessment for women includes ruling out medical causes of hair loss (thyroid, iron deficiency, hormonal) before surgery is recommended.
A typical FUE session takes 4–8 hours depending on the number of grafts. It is a day procedure performed under local anaesthesia — no hospital admission required.
Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks, swimming for 4 weeks, and strenuous exercise for 2 weeks. Special shampoo protocol is provided. Do not touch or scratch the recipient area for the first 5 days.
FUE extraction points are 0.8–1 mm in diameter and heal within 7–10 days to tiny white dots that are invisible with hair of normal length. The donor area is never left with a linear scar.
