Surgical tightening of loose neck skin and platysmal banding — restoring a defined jawline and elegant neck contour for a naturally rejuvenated appearance.
The neck is one of the earliest and most visible areas to show signs of ageing — loose skin, platysmal bands (vertical neck cords), submental (under-chin) fat and loss of the cervicomental angle (the angle between the chin and neck) all contribute to an aged appearance. A neck lift (platysmaplasty) directly addresses these changes through muscle tightening, fat removal and skin re-draping for a youthful, sculpted neck.
Dr. Thusay assesses neck skin laxity, fat distribution, platysmal banding and overall facial ageing to determine if an isolated neck lift or combined facelift is most appropriate.
Incisions behind the ears and under the chin allow access to the platysma muscle and submental fat. Muscle sutured, fat removed, skin re-draped and closed.
Compression garment worn 24/7. Swelling and bruising peak at days 3–5. Head elevation maintained.
Garment worn at night. Most patients comfortable in public by 2 weeks.
Defined jawline and elegant neck contour visible at 6–8 weeks as swelling resolves. Results typically last 6–8 years.
Yes. An isolated neck lift addresses the neck and jawline only and is suitable for patients whose primary concern is neck ageing with minimal mid-face sagging. Many patients in their 40s–50s with good mid-face position are excellent candidates for an isolated neck lift.
Incisions are made in the natural skin crease under the chin (hidden) and behind the ears in the natural hairline. Both are well-concealed and fade to near-invisibility over 12 months.
Discomfort is mild to moderate in the first 3–5 days, managed with oral medication. Tightness in the neck is felt for 2–4 weeks. Most patients describe the recovery as very tolerable.
Typically 6–8 years. You will always look younger than if you had not had surgery, even as ageing continues. Non-surgical treatments (HIFU, Ultherapy) can maintain and extend results.
Temporary numbness in the neck and lower cheek is common and usually resolves over 3–6 months.
Submental liposuction removes excess fat under the chin through a tiny (2 mm) incision hidden under the chin. It is often combined with a neck lift or can be performed as a standalone procedure in younger patients with good skin elasticity.
A neck lift significantly reduces horizontal neck lines by removing skin laxity. Deep etched-in lines may not be completely eliminated. Skin resurfacing or neuromodulators can address residual fine lines.
Desk work: 10–14 days. Physical work or exercise: 4–6 weeks.
