Natural body contouring — harvesting fat from areas of excess and transferring it to enhance the buttocks, breasts or face for a natural, long-lasting result.
Fat transfer uses your own living fat cells harvested by liposuction from areas of excess (abdomen, flanks, thighs) and carefully purified before being injected into the target area. Because it uses your own tissue, there is no risk of rejection, no foreign implant and a natural look and feel. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) specifically transfers fat to the buttocks for a rounder, fuller, more lifted contour.
Donor sites assessed for fat availability. Target area volume goals discussed. Realistic outcome (approx. 50–70% fat survival rate) explained.
Liposuction of donor sites under general anaesthesia. Fat collected in sterile closed system.
Harvested fat centrifuged or filtered to remove blood, oil and dead cells — leaving pure, viable fat cells.
Purified fat injected in multiple small passes across different tissue planes for smooth, natural distribution.
Compression on donor sites. Avoid sitting directly on buttocks for 2–3 weeks (BBL). Final volume established at 6–12 months after resorption of non-integrated fat.
Approximately 50–70% of transferred fat integrates permanently. The remainder is reabsorbed by the body over 3–6 months. Dr. Thusay over-corrects slightly to account for this, targeting the desired final volume after resorption.
The Brazilian Butt Lift has specific safety protocols. Fat must be injected into the subcutaneous layer (under the skin) and NOT into the gluteal muscle — a key safety principle that Dr. Thusay strictly follows. All BBL procedures are performed under general anaesthesia in a hospital setting with full monitoring.
Direct sitting on the buttocks is avoided for 2–3 weeks to protect the newly transferred fat from pressure trauma while it establishes a blood supply. Sleeping on your side or stomach, and using a BBL pillow when sitting are recommended.
Fat transfer offers a very natural result with no foreign implant and simultaneous contouring of the donor site. However, it is limited to approximately 1–2 cup size increase. Implants are necessary for larger increases. The two can be combined.
Transferred fat cells are living tissue and behave like other fat cells — they will shrink with weight loss. Maintaining a stable weight after the procedure helps preserve the transferred volume.
Often one session is sufficient. In cases where a larger volume is desired, a second session 6–12 months later can build on the first. Patients with limited fat reserves may need multiple staged transfers.
Fat grafting provides longer-lasting volume restoration than most fillers — results can last 5–10+ years. However, unlike fillers, the procedure requires a minor surgical harvest. It is a long-term solution compared to the temporary effect of fillers.
Yes — a tummy tuck combined with fat transfer (harvest from the resected abdominal fat) and BBL is an efficient combination. Dr. Thusay will advise on safe combination procedures for your specific case.
